Jesse Williams is not only kissing his Grey’s Anatomy paycheck goodbye, but also his large child support payments. The actor’s monthly bill has apparently been reduced now that his income is adjusted for no longer having the hit T.V. show to rely on.

As per court documents acquired by PEOPLE, there has been a "temporary modification" in Williams' monthly child support payments, now amounting to $6,413. Before this adjustment, the 40-year-old actor, (who shares two children, Sadie, 8, and Maceo, 6, with his ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee) was paying $40,000 per month in child support to his ex-wife.

The alteration in payments ensued subsequent to Williams' reported "significant change of income" cited in documents filed on December 20, 2021.

"I am requesting the Court reduce the child support to a reasonable amount I can afford given the significant reduction in my income and the now fluctuating nature of my income," Williams said in his filing while requesting the change.

This filing came merely six months after his departure from Grey's Anatomy in May 2021, where he portrayed the character Dr. Jackson Avery for 12 seasons. Presently, Williams is working on the Broadway production of Take Me Out, reportedly giving him a much-lower income of $1,668 per week, as reported by TMZ.

Williams apparently made $6.2 million from Grey’s Anatomy, including over $180,000 in residuals so far. Though his departure from the show caused a lot of buzz from fans struggling to understand why he left, Williams said he had multiple reasons for his decision. In addition to his two-year contract ended, the actor expressed a desire to seek out new challenges and experiences, which he’s now doing with his Broadway project, albeit at a lower price.

"I knew that as I designed my exit, the next thing I did had to be terrifying, the actor said. "I needed to get out of my comfort zone."

Not only is Grey’s Anatomy one of the longest running shows, but it’s also one of the most lucrative, especially for the leading cast. Among the highest-paid actors, Ellen Pompeo reigns supreme, commanding an impressive $575,000 per episode as the titular character, Meredith Grey, reports claim.

Following closely is Patrick Dempsey, who notably earned $350,000 per episode for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd, before his character’s death. Sandra Oh, recognized for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang, reportedly earned around $350,000 per episode before her departure from the series.

Currently, Jesse Williams has a reported net worth of $15 million.
